MONTREAL - A group of native activists crowded onto a Quebec road to block a federal election official from entering their reserve Thursday.

The demonstrators say they were exercising their democratic right by keeping Ottawa away from their traditional election process.

About 50 members of the Barriere Lake community stood with a cluster of 10 parked cars to keep an Indian and Northern Affairs Canada representative off their land.

A camera crew from the Aboriginal People's Television Network (APTN) secretly taped the meeting. In the end, all three came off looking like village idiots.

The May 18, 2010, arson attack on the Royal Bank of Canada in Ottawa was clearly an anti-colonial and anti-capitalist action. It has had a strong impact across the country and invoked the wrath of the state. As both sabotage and propaganda, the attack was highly successful: the bank was almost totally destroyed while the RBC's funding of the genocidal Tar Sands was once again highlighted.
